Matias Laba officially leaves Vancouver Whitecaps FC for Argentina return

Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Saturday that midfielder Matias Laba has signed a contract with Argentine side Estudiantes de la Plata, officially calling time on his stint in British Columbia.

Laba, 26, joined the Whitecaps in 2014 after a short stint with Toronto FC. In his MLS career, he played 129 MLS regular season games, scoring four goals and three assists from a defensive midfielder position. The Argentine, who began his career at Argentinos Juniors, is currently recovering from a torn ACL suffered in an MLS match in August.

Both Laba and the Whitecaps sent out fond farewell messages after the news dropped.
