The Portland Timbers are interested in acquiring 19-year-old Paraguayan midfielder Cristhian Paredes from Club América, according to multiple reports on Wednesday.
Paraguayan journalist Pablo Pedrero tweeted on Wednesday morning that the Timbers are interested in Paredes (pictured above, right). His report was shortly backed up by Carlos Giagni, an executive at Paraguayan club Sol de América – the team where Paredes began his career.
Paredes moved from Sol de America to Club América last January, but has yet to appear in a Liga MX match for Las Águilas, only playing in two Copa MX games for the Mexican giants. He scored four goals in 30 appearances for Sol de América in 2016 and has one cap with Paraguay’s senior national team, coming off the bench to play in their 5-0 friendly loss at France last February.
