New Colorado Rapids coach Anthony Hudson pens open letter to fans

Anthony Hudson - New Zealand - at the 2017 Confederations Cup draw

New head coaching appointments always have plenty of work to do in getting started with their new team, but it's safe to say new Colorado Rapids head coach Anthony Hudson went above and beyond this week.

Hudson, hired in November by the Rapids after nearly taking New Zealand to the 2018 World Cup, penned an open letter to Rapids fans which ran on SB Nation's Rapids blog Burgundy Wave on Monday.

Hudson starts off the note with a general thank you for the reception he's gotten so far:

"If youā€™re taking the time to read this note today, itā€™s probably fair to assume that youā€™re a supporter of Colorado Rapids Soccer Club. And one of the great privileges Iā€™ve had since officially joining the club four weeks ago, is the opportunity to meet many of you, to learn your names, hear your histories, and chat about the club. But for those who I have not yet had the pleasure, I wanted to take a moment on this cold, New Yearā€™s Day morning and touch base with you personally, let you know how happy I am to be here, and how honored I feel to manage the club you support."

Hudson also explains the goals of the team, why he chose to come to Colorado, and painted a picture for his ideal gameday experience at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
