Columbus Crew SC have submitted a transfer bid for Uruguayan striker Santiago “Morro” Garcia, according to reports out of Argentina.

Argentine journalist Gabriel Ciccarelli reported on Thursday that Columbus have offered Argentine club Godoy Cruz $2 million for 50 percent of Garcia’s rights.

Garcia, 27, has spent most of his career in South America. He’s been with Godoy Cruz since January 2016, scoring 20 goals in 46 league games for the club, including four strikes in 11 matches this season. He spent two years with River Plate prior to moving to Godoy Cruz, scoring 13 goals in 35 appearances for the Argentine giants.

Ola Kamara monopolized the minutes in Columbus’ one-striker system last year, scoring 18 goals while appearing in 34 regular-season games, 33 of which were starts. The 28-year-old is under contract for the 2018 season, but has made noise in the past about potentially exploring a move to Europe.
