Paraguayan youth international Jesus Medina departed for the US after Christmas to take a team physical for New York City FC, according to Paraguayan outlet Tigo Sports.
The 20-year-old winger who has most recently played for Paraguay's Club Libertad is expected to join NYCFC in time for the opening of preseason.
Earlier reports said Medina is signing a deal with Manchester City, then joining sister club NYCFC on a season-long loan.
Medina has been a regular for Libertad over the last two seasons after making his first-team debut in 2012. He received his first cap with Paraguay's senior national team in July.
