TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
After initially reporting on Dec. 12 that LAFC were closing in on a deal with New York for the back-to-back MLS assist king, Metro’s Kristian Dyer reported on Thursday that Minnesota United are now interested in acquiring the 32-year-old US international.
Dyer reported that Minnesota “has pieced together a sizable deal” for Kljestan, who has 16 goals and 51 assists in 97 regular season matches since he joined New York ahead of the 2015 season.
Yet additional reporting indicates this could be a leverage play by Kljestan's current employers.
Last night, #MLS sources were telling me this was smoke and mirrors from #RBNY. Pitting other teams against #LAFC to raise their return in a deal. #MNUFC interested, but highly unlikely to beat the expansion side's offering. https://t.co/lfjXbmi6Zq— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) December 22, 2017
