TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

The Philadelphia Union promoted forward Cory Burke from their USL side Bethlehem Steel FC on Thursday, signing the Jamaican international to an MLS deal.

Burke, 25, spent the last two seasons with the Steel. He scored four times in 21 appearances during the 2016 campaign, and added nine goals in 2017, second on the team.

The Kingston native has earned 13 caps with Jamaica since debuting for the Reggae Boyz in September 2016, playing for them five times as they finished second at last summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup. He has two international goals.

“We are pleased to sign Cory to our first team and reward his excellent performance with Bethlehem Steel FC,” said Union sporting director Earnie Stewart. “Cory’s success is a testament to the importance of Bethlehem in developing players within our organization. Under Brendan Burke and his staff, Cory has been playing in our system for two years now. We anticipate a successful transition to the Union, and we are looking forward to see Cory take the next step in his career.”
