Jeff Larentowicz -- Close Up -- Atlanta United

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Re-signed

Atlanta United announced Tuesday they have re-signed free agent midfielder and 13-year MLS veteran Jeff Larentowicz, who made 33 appearances (30 starts) between defensive midfielder and center back in the club's inaugural league campaign.

ā€œJeff played an important role for our team last season and weā€™re pleased to have re-signed him,ā€ said Atlanta technical Carlos Bocanegra. ā€œSince joining the club, he has been a consummate professional and his experience and leadership is invaluable for our younger players.ā€

The 34-year-old Larentowicz has scored 39 goals and added 20 assists in his MLS career. He made his 338th career MLS start and 357th MLS appearance against Toronto on Oct. 22, both of which place him at No. 9 in MLS history among field players. Larentowicz has also played in at least 23 games each year since the 2006 MLS season.

His career began with New England in 2005 before moving on to Colorado in 2010 and Chicago in 2013. Last year marked his third club in three seasons before returning to the Five Stripes for a second campaign.

"My first reaction is Iā€™m extremely happy," he told the team website. "I feel like a piece of this team, a piece of this organization and I wanted that to continue. Iā€™ve moved a bit lately, and I feel like Iā€™ve made another home. So Iā€™m glad Iā€™m staying."

Larentowicz's sides have won a Lamar Hunt US Open Cup (2007), four MLS Eastern Conference Championships (2005, 2006, 2007, 2010) and an MLS Cup (2010). He has played in 23 career MLS Cup playoff matches.
