There were a total of 37 MLS players eligible for free agency when the offseason list was officially unveiled on December 10, 2017.
All 37 were out of contract or they had their contract option declined by their clubs. In addition, to be eligible for MLS free agency, they had to be at least 28 years old during the 2017 season with at least eight years of MLS service.
