It’s been a few years, but the Houston Dynamo are finally back where they believe they belong: The Western Conference Championship.
The Dynamo had missed the playoffs in each of the last three years, and didn’t have many expectations heading into 2017. First-year head coach Wilmer Cabrera has engineered a remarkable turnaround, however, taking the Dynamo to the brink of MLS Cup just one year after they finished dead last in the Western Conference.
Their run is reminiscent of the successful Dynamo teams of years past, squads that won MLS Cup in 2006 and 2007 and made the conference championship six times in their first eight years of existence.
Now, as the team prepares to host Seattle in the first leg of the Western Conference Championship on Tuesday, a few Dynamo legends shared their thoughts on the current Houston team. See what they had to say about the Dynamo, the city of Houston and how soccer fits in Southeastern Texas in the above video produced by the Dynamo’s digital department.
