BIGGEST MOVERS: NY +3 spots | SKC -3 spots

1

LAST WEEK: 1

HIGH: 1 | LOW: 8

New record for points, good result on the road, goals from both forwards... the Reds just had the best regular season in league history.

Previous: Drew at ATL, 2-2 | Next: Conference Semifinals

2

LAST WEEK: 2

HIGH: 2 | LOW: 8

A “meh” end to the season for the Cityzens with one win in their last five, but with David Villa rolling again anything will be possible in the playoffs.

Previous: Drew vs. CLB, 2-2 | Next: Conference Semifinals

3

LAST WEEK: 3

HIGH: 1 | LOW: 15

Portland claimed the West, but Seattle sits higher because … well, they seem like they’re in better shape. Getting the bye bodes well.

Previous: Won vs. COL, 3-0 | Next: Conference Semifinals

4

LAST WEEK: 6

HIGH: 2 | LOW: 14

Enter the postseason on a high, winning three of four and grabbing the No. 1 seed. Can Darren Mattocks, Sebastian Blanco and Darlington Nagbe provide enough support to fuel a run?

Previous: Won vs. VAN, 2-1 | Next: Conference Semifinals

5

LAST WEEK: 4

HIGH: 2 | LOW: 17

Toe-to-toe with the top squad, and they finish the season as the opponent no one wants a part of. Could ride home-field a long way.

Previous: Drew vs. TOR, 2-2 | Next: vs. CLB on 10/26

6

LAST WEEK: 5

HIGH: 5 | LOW: 19

Amid plenty of off-field tumult, and with a road game on completely unfamiliar grounds, Crew SC proved the depth and focus of their squad with a dramatic draw. Tough-as-nails defense and some goalkeeper heroics push them up the rankings at the whistle.

Previous: Drew at NYC, 2-2 | Next: at ATL on 10/26

7

LAST WEEK: 10

HIGH: 3 | LOW: 14

They took one #LastCallatRFK and put a damper on the moment like any true rival should. Rested and ready, they’re likely to provide Chicago a stiff test on the road.

Previous: Won at DC, 2-1 | Next: at CHI on 10/25

8

LAST WEEK: 7

HIGH: 3 | LOW: 21

After that nice, home-heavy run, they won just once in their final five and fell all the way down to third in the West. Not the October form they wanted to show, surely.

Previous: Lost at POR, 2-1 | Next: vs. SJ on 10/25

9

LAST WEEK: 11

HIGH: 6 | LOW: 19

The Dynamo capped one of their best seasons in recent history fittingly, with a satisfying 3-0 drubbing of Chicago at home. The relative goalfest and home shutout offered a final moment to savor the theatrics that defined their 2017 at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Previous: Won vs. CHI, 3-0 | Next: vs. SKC on 10/26

10

LAST WEEK: 9

HIGH: 1 | LOW: 21

Backed into 3rd, but that a playoff berth (let alone a potential bye!) was long certain marks a tremendous turnaround for the '15 & '16 cellar dweller.

Previous: Lost at HOU, 3-0 | Next: vs. NY on 10/25

11

LAST WEEK: 8

HIGH: 2 | LOW: 11

Nothing says “backing into the playoffs” like an 0-3-2 finish to the season. The playoffs are a whole new ballgame, of course, though one that might not last long since Tim Melia won't make his return from injury.

Previous: Lost at RSL, 2-1 | Next: at HOU on 10/26

12

LAST WEEK: 12

HIGH: 10 | LOW: 21

Emotions are aplenty in San Jose after reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2012. Can they lock down defensively against the 'Caps?

Previous: Won vs. MIN, 3-2 | Next: at VAN on 10/25

13

LAST WEEK: 13

HIGH: 8 | LOW: 22

Oh man. Was really exciting to #Believe for most of a half. See what happens when you drop points to Colorado? 2018, here we come.

Previous: Won vs. SKC, 2-1 | Next: End of season

14

LAST WEEK: 14

HIGH: 11 | LOW: 20

Welp. They finally got one on the road. Better late than never, we do suppose.

Previous: Won at MTL, 3-2 | Next: End of season

15

LAST WEEK: 15

HIGH: 9 | LOW: 22

Dap to CJ Sapong, the top-scoring Yank in MLS this year (16g/5a). Now they need to move heaven and earth to get a playmaker into the hole behind him.

Previous: Won vs. ORL, 6-1 | Next: End of season

16

LAST WEEK: 16

HIGH: 15 | LOW: 22

The Loons can go out with heads held high. Though they finally fell to the Quakes, they didn't make it easy, showing a road grit that's grown over the latter half of the season.

Previous: Lost at SJ, 3-2 | Next: End of season

17

LAST WEEK: 19

HIGH: 1 | LOW: 19

They looked like the FC Dallas of old in their 5-1 dismantling of LA on Decision Day, but now they’re talking about the cycle being over for this group. Expect a youth revolution in 2018.

Previous: Won vs. LA, 5-1 | Next: End of season

18

LAST WEEK: 17

HIGH: 8 | LOW: 19

Patrice Bernier’s retirement celebration on Decision Day also served as the ceremonial close of an era at the Impact. Owner Joey Saputo has already talked about shaking up what he called a complacent squad. It should be a fun offseason in Montreal.

Previous: Lost vs. NE, 3-2 | Next: End of season

19

LAST WEEK: 18

HIGH: 6 | LOW: 22

Who are the building blocks in Commerce City? That's the question Padraig Smith will have to answer over the next couple of months.

Previous: Lost at SEA, 3-0 | Next: End of season

20

LAST WEEK: 22

HIGH: 7 | LOW: 22

Goodbye, RFK. Goodbye, Bill Hamid. A bittersweet Atlantic Cup loss to end the season, but United are putting together the pieces for a fresh start in 2018.

Previous: Lost vs. NY, 2-1 | Next: End of season

21

LAST WEEK: 20

HIGH: 2 | LOW: 21

If it wasn’t clear by now, the 6-1 loss to Philly was more evidence of the busy offseason awaiting Jason Kreis, who has already made it clear that some players have booked their ticket out of Orlando.

Previous: Lost at PHI, 6-1 | Next: End of season

22

LAST WEEK: 21

HIGH: 5 | LOW: 22

Officially claimed the Wooden Spoon, awarded to the worst team in the league every year. The Power Rankings Politburo are stoked for FredZilla's write-up...

Previous: Lost at DAL, 5-1 | Next: End of season
