MLS Disciplinary Committee suspends RSL's Luke Mulholland, fines 3 others

The MLS Disciplinary Committee has handed down one suspension and five fines following Week 19 of the 2017 MLS regular season.

The Disciplinary Committee has suspended Real Salt Lake midfielder Luke Mulholland for one game and issued an undisclosed fine for serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent in the 57th minute of Salt Lake’s 6-2 win over the LA Galaxy on July 4. Mulholland will serve the suspension during Salt Lake’s match on Wednesday against the Portland Timbers.


Erik Torres embellishment



Houston Dynamo forward Erick “Cubo” Torres has been found found guilty of simulation/embellishment during the 60th minute of Houston’s 3-1 win over the Montreal Impact on July 5. The Disciplinary Committee has issued Torres an undisclosed fine.


Yangel Herrera embellishment



New York City FC midfielder Yangel Herrera was found guilty of simulation/embellishment during the 42nd minute of NYCFC’s 3-2 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps on July 5. The Disciplinary Committee has issued Herrera an undisclosed fine.


Sporting KC, Philadelphia Union mass confrontations



Both Sporting Kansas City and the Philadelphia Union have been found in violation of the league’s mass confrontation policy in the 66th minute of the teams’ 1-1 draw on July 6. Both Sporting and the Union have been issued warnings for each club’s first violation of the league’s policy this season.


The Disciplinary Committee has also issued an undisclosed fine as supplemental discipline to Sporting midfielder Ilie Sanchez for violation of league policy regarding hands to the face, head or neck of an opponent during the incident.
