Steven Taylor - Portland Timbers - isolated

The Portland Timbers announced on Thursday they have mutually agreed to part ways with defender Steven Taylor.

The 30-year-old, signed on Aug. 1 after spending 13 seasons at English side Newcastle United, made nine MLS regular season appearances for the Timbers, scoring one goal. He also briefly played on loan at Portland Timbers 2 after his signing.

Portland narrowly missed out on an Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs spot on the final day of the regular season.

“We appreciate Steven’s contributions while in Portland and wish him all the best,” said Gavin Wilkinson, general manager and president of soccer for the Timbers, in a team statement.
