Atlanta United added another promising young player to their roster on Friday, when they announced that they have acquired 18-year-old US youth international forward Brandon Vazquez from Club Tijuana.

A US Under-19 international, Vazquez becomes the ninth player – and fourth teenager – to officially join Atlanta United.

“Brandon is an exciting addition to the foundation we’re building with our roster,” team president Darren Eales said in a statement released by the club. “Our club is committed to identifying and securing young and exciting prospects nearing the prime of their careers, and Brandon is another example of that. He has a bright future for club and country and we’re pleased he’s decided to sign with us.”

A native of Chula Vista, California, Vazquez played a huge role for the US at the 2015 U-17 World Cup in Chile, scoring two of the Americans’ three goals at the tournament. The only other goal scored in the tournament for the US was by USMNT and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Christian Pulisic.

Vazquez has scored four goals this year for the US U-19s, including the game-winner against Spain in the 2016 COTIF Tournament. He only made one first-team appearance during his time with Tijuana, playing 30 minutes for Xolos in a Copa MX match in August.
