Jordan Morris sets American MLS rookie scoring record

Jordan Morris' sterling rookie season got a little brighter on Sunday when he got his 11th and 12th tallies of the year to key a massive 4-2 Seattle Sounders win at the LA Galaxy.

In addition to giving his team's postseason hopes a huge boost, Morris continued his climb up the rookie goalscoring charts. His first goal (above) put him into a tie for second-most goals scored by a rookie with Damani Ralph, who scored 11 in 2003, while the second goal lifted him to sole possession of the No. 2 spot on the charts. Morris now also holds the record for most goals by an American rookie after starting the day tied with Pat Noonan, who netted 10 in 2003.

The Stanford product, who signed a Homegrown deal with the Sounders in January, now has to score five goals in five games to match Orlando City forward Cyle Larin, who ran away with the rookie record by scoring 17 goals in the 2015 season. It'll certainly be a big ask for the US national team forward, but now considering his red-hot form (four goals in four games), it's not out of the question either.
