And now the Revs midfielder is being honored for his memorable weekend.
Following a monster two-goal, one-assist game in Saturday’s critical 3-1 win over the Montreal Impact, Rowe was named the MLS Player of the Week for Week 28 by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR).
Rowe got the Revs rolling right from the opening whistle, setting up Kei Kamara for a goal 23 seconds into the game on a perfectly lofted cross. It was his seventh assist of the season.
He then scored two goals of his own — his fourth and fifth of the year — in the 27th minute and 59th minute to secure New England’s big road triumph.
He completed the brace by pouncing on a failed clearance and using his left foot to send it home, just moments after he had another great scoring chance get cleared off the line.
This is Rowe’s first Player of the Week honor of the season with his last coming on March 31, 2015. The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of print, television, radio and online media.
Rowe and the Revs will look to retain their positioning above the red line when they travel to Columbus to take on Crew SC at MAPFRE Stadium on Sunday (7 pm ET, FS1, MLS LIVE in Canada).
