Hope Solo sounds off on Sweden after USWNT's Olympics elimination

Hope Solo - US women's national team USWNT - angry

The US women's national team might be heading home from Brazil, but not every member of the squad is doing so quietly.

US goalkeeper Hope Solo lashed out at Sweden following the Americans' 4-3 penalty kick shootout loss in the quarterfinals of the Olympics on Friday. The defeat knocked the reigning Olympic champions out of the tournament, and Solo was none too pleased about how Sweden went about grabbing the win.

The US were the better side for much of the game in Brasilia, but needed an Alex Morgan goal to pull them level after Stina Blackstenius opened the scoring earlier in the second half. The game went into a scoreless extra time and then penalty kicks, with Solo and the Americans ultimately falling.
