New York Red Bulls sign Austrian midfielder Daniel Royer from Danish club

The New York Red Bulls completed the transfer of Austrian midfielder Daniel Royer from Danish club FC Midtjylland on Wednesday, the club announced.

A 26-year-old who has primarily played as a winger during his career, Royer spent one season with Midtyjylland, scoring two goals and notching three assists in 36 appearances in the Danish Superliga, UEFA Champions League, Europa League and cup competition.

“We’re pleased to add Daniel to our team,” Red Bulls sporting director Ali Curtis said in a statement released by the club. “He’s a talented player that is in the prime of his career. His ability to play different positions in the midfield gives us both quality and depth. Daniel is a very intelligent and mature young man, and we look forward to him joining the club.”
