NYCFC acquire Luxembourg defender Maxime Chanot

New York City FC announced Saturday that they've completed the transfer of Luxembourg defender Maxime Chanot, pending receipt of his P1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC). The 26-year-old native of Nancy, France comes to NYCFC from Belgium Pro League side K.V. Kortrijk, where he scored four goals in 36 matches.

He's also a regular favorite on the Luxembourg national team, with 19 caps to date, as well as one goal to take his country to a 1-1 draw with Italy on June 4, 2014.

Chanot described himself as a "real central defender" in a statement from the club. "I love duels and people often say that my main asset is my physical impact," he said. "I’m also a ball-playing player and I'll try to score goals for my team when possible, especially when it comes to set pieces.”
