Zack Steffen is reportedly going to be a German Bundesliga player this upcoming European season.

According to German outlet Kicker, Freiburg are set to use Steffen as their third goalkeeper during the 2016-17 campaign. Steffen, a 21-year-old netminder who started for the US at the Under-20 World Cup last year, signed with the club back in December 2014.

The University of Maryland product, who was named to the US's pre-Copa America Centenario camp back in May, has yet to make his professional debut. He played in 14 games last year for Freiburg's second team. Steffen will be looking to make a name for himself on the professional level in order to put his name in the USMNT goalkeeper conversation. 21-year-old Ethan Horvath was recently the third goalkeeper at Copa America Centenario while MLSers Bill Hamid and David Bingham have not yet hit their primes.

Freiburg won the 2. Bundesliga crown last season, earning instant promotion to Germany's top flight.
