Red Bulls' Luis Robles expecting NYCFC "to come full force" on Sunday

After Mayā€™s 7-0 drubbing at Yankee Stadium, New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles is expecting New York City FC to bring their best ā€“ and then some ā€“ in Sundayā€™s rematch in the Bronx (12 pm ET; ESPN in the US, TSN4 in Canada).

Robles appeared on ESPNā€™s ā€œOver the Ball with Kevin Flynnā€ podcast earlier this week, with the MLS ironman talking about Icelandā€™s magical run at the Euros, his progression under Red Bulls boss Jesse Marsch and Sundayā€™s rivalry match with NYCFC.

ā€œWe absolutely expect that theyā€™re going to come full force,ā€ Robles told Flynn. ā€œWhenever you beat a team on their home field 7-0 you better expect that youā€™re going to get their best and then some the next time around.ā€

Robles isnā€™t expecting the Red Bulls to be able to recreate the 7-0 throttling they put on NYCFC in May, but he does think his team ā€“ who are currently one point behind second-place NYCFC in the East ā€“ should get a result on Sunday, even if NYCFC will have Frank Lampard and Jack Harrison available this time around.

ā€œWe understand that thereā€™s a lot on the line on Sunday, not only for table placement, but also for city bragging rights. When we were able to go to their place last time obviously we shocked and surprised everyone, including ourselves, to be able to put a touchdown up on the scoreboard. So itā€™s not necessarily something weā€™re going to mimic. We know that itā€™s going to be a very, very difficult, physical match, but thereā€™s no reason for us to think that we canā€™t get a good result out of it.ā€
