US protest against suspensions of Jermaine Jones, Bobby Wood dismissed

So yes, the United States men's national team will be without starters Jermaine Jones and Bobby Wood for Tuesday's semifinal showdown against Argentina after all. Jones had earned a straight red for putting his hand to the face of Ecuador's Michael Arroyo, while Wood earned yellow during the same skirmish for "unsporting behavior." As it is Wood's second yellow, he was suspended for the semifinals pending a ruling on the US protest.

Said ruling came through, and it's not great for the US:

Midfielder Alejandro Bedoya is also suspended for yellow card accumulation. The US did not protest that ruling.

The US face Argentina at NRG Stadium in Houston on Tuesday (9 pm ET; FS1 | Univision | UDN).
