Another large crowd expected at Stanford Stadium for California Clasico

More than 43,000 tickets have already been sold for the June 25 California Clasico at Stanford Stadium between the San Jose Earthquakes and LA Galaxy, the Earthquakes announced this week. The Bay Area leg of the game, between the Northern and Southern California rivals, has drawn more than 50,000 fans in each of the last four years.

"We can't wait to kick off another spectacular edition of the California Clasico," Earthquakes president Dave Kaval said in a club statement. "Drawing more than 50,000 fans every year since 2012, with fireworks on and off the field, the Quakes are excited to once again host the premier annual soccer event in the Bay Area."

The match kicks off at 10 pm ET and will be broadcast live on UniMás in the US and can be seen on MLS LIVE in Canada.

Prior to the game, the game ball will be delivered by a group of skydivers parachuting into the stadium, and halftime will feature a tribute to the armed forces.

Flags from all 20 MLS teams will be displayed on the field in recognition of the 20^th year of Major League Soccer, and after the game one lucky fan will have the opportunity to win a brand new BMW or Earthquakes season tickets. The game will be followed by the largest fireworks display in the Bay Area.

Last year’s edition of the game drew a California Clasico record 50,422 and saw San Jose come from behind to win, 3-1. In 2012, the match attracted 50,391. In 2013, attendance was 50,028 and in 2014 it was 50,006.
