Toronto FC, BMO extend stadium rights partnership 10 years, kit deal through 2016

Rennovated BMO Field

Just one day after raising the roof over BMO Fieldā€™s south end, MLSE and Toronto FC announced on Monday that BMO has agreed to a 10-year renewal of their naming rights sponsorship of the stadium.

As part of the stadium naming rights renewal, BMO will also extend its deal as TFC's jersey sponsor for the 2016 season.

Construction is currently underway on Phase II of the BMO Field renovation project, with crews raising the covered south end canopy into place on Sunday morning. The two-year renovation project, scheduled to be completed in May, will see canopies added to the east, west and south stands at BMO Field.

The first phase of BMO Field renovations was completed last May, and saw the stadiumā€™s capacity increased to 30,000.

As was the case last year, TFC will begin the 2016 season with a lengthy road trip to accommodate the BMO Field renovations. Theyā€™ll play their first eight regular season matches on the road, eventually opening their home schedule on May 7 against FC Dallas.

Originally opened in April 2007, BMO Field will also welcome the Canadian Football Leagueā€™s Toronto Argonauts as a tenant this summer. The home of the 2008 MLS All-Star Game and MLS Cup 2010, the stadium will host the 2016 Grey Cup ā€“ the CFL championship game ā€“ in November.
