Colorado Rapids midfielder Dillon Powers joins Reading on two-week trial

Dillon Powers - Colorado Rapids

Dillon Powers will spend the next couple of weeks in England.

The Colorado Rapids announced on Monday that Powers has joined Championship side Reading FC for a short trial. The 2013 MLS Rookie of the Year arrived in England on Sunday, and will train with the Royals at Hogwood Park for the next two weeks.

"This is a good opportunity for Dillon to test himself alongside quality players and, we believe, another indication of our ability to develop talent," said Rapids VP of Soccer Operations and Technical Director Paul Bravo. "We wish Dillon the best of luck."

The 24-year-old midfielder saw action in more games than any other Rapids player (32) in the 2015 MLS season, and led the team in assists (six). He came second in minutes played by an outfield player (2,235), and scored three goals.

Since his arrival at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park after being selected in the first round (11th overall) of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft, Powers has amassed 13 goals and 21 assists in 92 appearances (81 starts), while logging 7,020 minutes.

At Reading, Powers will train alongside fellow American midfielder Danny Williams.
