Report: Steven Gerrard has talked to Jurgen Klopp, may train with Liverpool in offseason

After playing for almost a year-and-a-half straight, LA Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard may not be taking much of a break this offseason.


According to Sky Sports, Gerrard spoke to Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp and the new head man told the Liverpool legend that he was more than welcome to train with the club in the offseason.


A report in The Independent also claimed that Gerrard was talking to the Reds' new German coach about a training session, but that the Galaxy would not sanction a loan for the Englishman similar to offseason the loan stints David Beckham had at Milan during his time with the Galaxy.


An LA Galaxy spokesperson confirmed to MLSsoccer.com that Gerrard would be allowed to train at Liverpool, but that he would not go on loan to the Reds.


The Liverpool coach spoke with Gerrard spoke while the latter was in LA, and the conversation reportedly revolved around the midfielder wishing Klopp well on his new position.


Klopp later addressed the topic of Gerrard's potential return at his Wednesday press conference ahead of Liverpool's Europa League clash with Rubin Kazan, saying, “Absolutely if he wants to train our door is open, but nothing else.”


Gerrard returned to England on Wednesday after the Galaxy were knocked out of the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs by the Seattle Sounders.
