Landon Donovan training with LA Galaxy in preparation for charity match with old teammate David Beckham

Landon Donovan and David Beckham - LA Galaxy

Landon Donovan is back – for the week, at least.

And the former LA Galaxy star will most definitely make a return to the pitch – along with a former teammate and fellow MLS legend – in David Beckham’s “Match for Children” at Old Trafford on Nov. 14, a charity game benefiting UNICEF.

Donovan, who retired at the conclusion of the 2014 season, had Galaxy fans who are hoping for his actual return skipping a beat when he tweeted out a photo with Gyasi Zardes from LA’s training grounds.

A Galaxy spokesman confirmed to MLSsoccer.com that Donovan did indeed train with the team Wednesday and would possibly for the remainder of the week.

Donovan will suit up for the "Rest of the World" squad who will take on Beckham's Great Britain and Ireland squad. Donovan will join the likes Fabio Cannavaro, Luis Figo, Ronaldinho, Patrick Vieira and Michael Ballack on the team that will be captained by Zinedine Zidane.

Beckham will serve as the captain of a side that includes the likes of Sol Campbell, John Terry, Phil Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Jamie Carragher, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Michael Owen. Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will lead the team.
