American Exports: Leon's Miguel Ibarra, Club America's Ventura Alvarado score goals in Mexico

Miguel Ibarra gets the start for USMNT

A pair of US national team youngsters each had a good Wednesday night south of the border.


Former Minnesota United forward Miguel Ibarra opened his account for Club Leon in their 3-3 Copa MX draw with Atletico San Luis. Ibarra’s goal, into an open net after a flicked pass to the back post, gave Leon a brief 2-1 lead. His USMNT and Leon teammate William Yarbrough didn’t exactly have the best of nights in the shootout.


Both players went the full 90 minutes.



USMNT defender Ventura Alvarado scored his first goal of the season in Club America’s 4-0 CONCACAF Champions League group-play opening romp over Motagua at Estadio Azteca, pouncing on a rebound from a third-minute corner kick.
