American Exports: Jose Torres makes return from injury in Tigres UANL's Copa Libertadores clash

Jose Torres with Tigres UANL

After spending seven months on the sidelines, Jose Torres made his way back to the field for Tigres UANL on Wednesday.

Playing in his first game since Dec. 15, 2014 and since having surgery for a herniated disk a month later, Torres started in the Liga MX side's 2-1 loss to Brazil's Internacional in the first leg of their Copa Libertadores semifinals series. The 27-year-old Torres was deployed at left back in the match, and he went the distance at Estadio Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre.

Torres will be hoping he made enough of an impression on head coach Ricardo Ferretti to get the nod in the decisive return match, which will be played on on July 22 at Estadio Universitario.

Aside from trying to make it into the Copa Libertadores final, Tigres UANL are gearing up for the start of the Liga MX Apertura campaign. The club's first game is at home against Toluca on July 25.
