Women's World Cup: USWNT draws South Korea in final send-off match at sold-out Red Bull Arena

Carli Lloyd vs. South Korea (May 30, 2015)

It wasn't quite the send-off match the USWNT was hoping for on Saturday.

Their final warm-up before kicking off the 2015 FIFA World Cup on June 8 against Australia was an anticlimactic affair at Red Bull Arena. The scoreless tie with Korea Republic left much to be desired. The Americans may have outshot their opponents 15-7, but they struggled with their finishing.

PLAY OF THE GAME: Those expecting an easy run against Korea Republic were no doubt surprised by just how formidable a competitor the Koreans proved to be. And the visitors provided arguably the most riveting moment of the game as the seconds wound down – a blast from outside the box that forced goalkeeper Hope Solo to make an impressive dive.

---

SQUAD STATUS: We knew that Alex Morgan was going to miss the match as she continues to nurse a bone bruise in her left knee. Another big name, midfielder Megan Rapinoe, also sat out as a precaution after suffering a quad injury in training on Friday. She plans to be back in action for the team's Women's World Cup debut.

Meanwhile, New Jersey native and USWNT veteran Christie Rampone made only her second appearance of the year, this time in front of her hometown crowd, after battling a nagging back injury since January.

---

SUPPORTERS STEAL THE SHOW: Red Bull Arena set a new USWNT record with the 26,467 fans in attendance and the supporters came in full force, outfitting the already red-white-and-blue stadium with an overwhelming presence.

---

TURNING UP THE VOLTS: If the supporters brought an electric vibe to the proceedings, so did the USWNT kits which featured volt socks for the first time. The neon also outlined the black lettering on the back of the jersey, giving it a green-looking tinge.

Now the US women just need to make sure they give a similar jolt to their attack by the time the games count on June 8.
