MLS Disciplinary Committee issues warning to Revolution, Crew SC for mass confrontation

The MLS Disciplinary Committee announced Thursday that it has found both the New England Revolution and Columbus Crew SC in violation of its mass confrontation policy.

The Revs and Crew SC were docked for an incident that occurred in the 63rd minute of their scoreless draw on Saturday. New England playmaker Lee Nguyen was pulled down outside the area by Columbus midfielder Tony Tchani, who was given a yellow card for the foul. Before the Revs could take the ensuing free kick, however, the teams got into a minor dustup, with players from both sides surrounding referee Silviu Petrescu.

Video of the incident is above. As this is both clubs’ first mass confrontation offense of the season, each have been issued an official warning. Future mass confrontation incidents for either club will be subject to a fine.
