GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Edgar Castillo started shakily, but went on to put in an effective performance in Atlas’ comfortable 2-0 victory over Leones Negros in the Liga MX Clausura 2015 on Sunday.

Castillo was yellow-carded in the 1st minute for bringing down winger Jonathan González as he was running towards goal and looked nervous in the minutes after, but gradually began to settle down.

The Las Cruces, New Mexico native played a role in Atlas’ opener in Estadio Jalisco when his run into the box created space for Colombian international Aldo Leao to smash a shot into the top corner of the net in the 29th.

Enrique Pérez consolidated the lead in the 52nd, with Castillo growing in confidence as the match wore on.

The three points against Atlas’ Guadalajara rivals lift Los Rojinegros into third position in the Clausura after five rounds of matches, one point behind leader Cruz Azul.
