Now in his 4th season, the Ghanaian midfielder has struggled with injuries this year -- he has missed the last seven matches, in which the Caps have gone 1-4-2 -- and his production has dropped off. His decision making is still lacking, but his technical ability means he can provide a killer pass or unlock a defense with his dribbling.
What the technical staffers say: "This has been a down year for him, in my opinion. He's good enough to dominate games -- he's got an enormous amount of talent -- but he hasn't played as well this year as he has in the past. He's got bite, he's a good passer, and he's got plenty of tenacity. I haven't seen enough of that this year. It's hard to explain."
What Opta Sports says: The only player to rank in the Top 10 among players under 24 in chances created per game (1.10), successful dribbles per game (1.55) and tackles per game (2.65).
