Transfer Watch: Is Columbus Crew defender Giancarlo Gonzalez heading to Palermo in Italy's Serie A?

Transfer Watch: Giancarlo Gonzalez, Columbus Crew

The transfer bids have been rolling in at Columbus Crew headquarters since the end of the 2014 World Cup.

Costa Rican central defender Giancarlo Gonzalez has been the subject of those offers, including one from English club Fulham that was recently rejected. But it seems like there might yet be a winning bid for the player who helped lead Costa Rica to the World Cup quarterfinals in Brazil.

According to Costa Rican daily Al Dia, Gonzalez will be moving to Italian Sere A side Palermo on a four-year deal. The Crew acquired Gonzalez in February after a spell at Norwegian side Valerenga and he started all 17 matches he played for the Crew.

No official word just yet from the Crew on the report, but NBCSN and Houston Dynamo broadcaster Sebastian Salazar says manager Gregg Berhalter will be addressing the media before Saturday's match against the Houston Dynamo.

Stay tuned.
