American Exports: Eric Lichaj, Jonathan Spector, Tim Ream all in midweek Championship action

AMSTERDAM – Several Americans laced up for English Championship action on Tuesday, with Eric Lichaj pulling solid double-duty in Nottingham Forest's 2-1 road win over Bournemouth.

The US defender (above) worked the first half at right back before switching to the opposite wingback position at halftime. Lichaj was strong defensively, pitching in with seven clearances and a pair of tackles.

Still unbeaten through three rounds, the Reds climbed into first place by a slim total goals scored advantage over two teams holding the same number of points and the same goal differential.

Around the league, Jonathan Spector put in a decent right-back shift as 14th-place Birmingham City conceded late to settle for a 2-2 home draw with Ipswich Town. The Brums were pulled back twice, with away defender Christophe Berra's second of the night splitting the points in stoppage time.

Tim Ream went the distance at left back as stuttering Bolton leaked late to drop a 2-1 home decision against Middlesbrough. The former New York Red Bulls defender enjoyed a strong game on the ball, but it was not enough as Wanderers dipped into the bottom three.

Meanwhile, Duane Holmes went unused as Huddersfield Town scored a 2-1 victory at Reading, who remain without the injured Daniel Williams. The result gave the Terriers their first points of the season and lifted them from the basement to 20th place.

Likewise, Zak Whitbread watched from the away dugout as Derby County fell 3-2 at Charlton. The Rams now stand middle of the Championship pack in 12th.
