Once again, Landon Donovan came through in the clutch when his team needed him. And as a result, he walks away with another award.
After scoring the game-winning goal for the MLS All-Stars on Wednesday night in their 2-1 comeback win over Bayern Munich at Providence Park in Portland, the LA Galaxy star was named the Volkswagen Most Valuable Player of the 2014 AT&T MLS All-Star Game.
Donovan scored the winner in the 70th minute, after taking down a beautiful lobbed pass from Diego Valeri and beating a Bayern defender before shooting past World Cup-winning goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
With the goal, Donovan became the all-time leading scorer in MLS All-Star Games, with his sixth tally in 14 career appearances, to go with his all-time MLS scoring record that he picked up earlier this year.
The All-Star MVP award is Donovan's second, after first winning it in 2001 in San Jose.
