American Exports: Mix Diskerud leads charge as Rosenborg rally for Europa League qualifier win

Mix Diskerud, Rosenborg

AMSTERDAM – Early injury sub Mikkel Diskerud set up the series equalizer on the road as Rosenborg stormed back from a first-leg deficit to bump off second-round Europa League qualifying hosts Sligo Rovers 3-1 (4-3 on aggregate).

The US midfielder, who entered play in the 27th minute, assisted on the first of two Mike Jensen goals that flipped the scoreline after intermission. Three minutes out of the break, Diskerud notched his first career Europa League helper by feeding Jensen to even the aggregate tally at 3-3.

Shortly after the hour, Diskerud led another rush that resulted in Jensen cleaning up a rebound for the tie winner. The American had a good chance to add an insurance marker in stoppage time, only to have his area shot snuffed out by a saving block.

Rosenborg advance to the third qualifying round, which they will begin at Turkish side Karabükspor on July 31.
