US Open Cup: 2014 quarterfinal matches set as Seattle Sounders-Portland Timbers takes center stage

US Open Cup trophy

The fifth round of the 2014 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup has wrapped up and eight teams are still standing as the tournament moves into the quarterfinal stage.

The most riveting of the quarterfinal clashes involves Cascadia rivals Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers, while the Philadelphia Union and New England Revolution will meet in the round's other all-MLS clash.

The Timbers will be looking to disrupt the Sounders' push for a fourth title in the tournament, while the Chicago Fire will hope to overcome the Atlanta Silverbacks in their bid for an all-time record-tying fifth title. FC Dallas and the Revolution are the other two past winners remaining in the tournament field.

Two lower division teams, both from the NASL, remain in the tournament, as the Carolina RailHawks will play host to Dallas and the Silverbacks host the Fire. The RailHawks knocked out Chivas USA and the LA Galaxy to get to this stage, while the Silverbacks did the same to Real Salt Lake and the Colorado Rapids.
