Orlando City in "advanced discussions" with Brazilian star Kaka to join for 2015 season

Kaka in Brazil at World Cup

Thursday's rumors of Brazilian star Kaká joining MLS expansion club Orlando City in 2015 become more real on Friday morning, as the club released a statement about the potential signing.

“Orlando City Soccer Club is in advanced discussions with Kaká," the club statement said. "Pending completion of the potential player agreement, Kaká would join Orlando City SC in January 2015 prior to the Club’s first season in Major League Soccer.

On Thursday, multiple outlets, including Spanish sports daily ASESPN Brazil and ESPN analyst Taylor Twellman, reported that the AC Milan star and former World Cup winner with Brazil – who is currently in his home country for this year's World Cup – would sign with the Lions for their inaugural MLS season in 2015.

They also indicated that the 31-year-old would join either Brazilian side São Paulo FC – where he began his professional career – or possibly stay with AC Milan on loan until reporting for training camp with Orlando City in January.
