World Cup: USMNT now have 63% chance of advancing from Group of Death, says Nate Silver

On Monday morning, the US national team had a 33 percent probability of surviving the Group of Death.

After their dramatic 2-1 win over Ghana, they're twice as likely to make it out.

According to Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight.com, the USA have a 63 percent chance of advancing out of the group. Those are the second-best odds of the four teams in the group after the first matchday.

As it stands, Silver gives the USMNT a 10.4 percent chance of finishing tops in the group and a 56.8 percent chance of finishing second.

Germany, after their dismantling of Portugal, now have 98.4 chance of advancing. Portugal have the third best odds of advancing at 23.4 percent while Ghana now is left with 11 percent of hope.
