3 Mexican teams interested in Benny Feilhaber, though playmaker is "really happy" at Sporting KC

AMSTERDAM – For the second time in four years, Sporting Kansas City midfield ace Benny Feilhaber has sparked some interest in Mexico's Liga MX, has learned.

Sources close to Mexico City powerhouse Club América tell that the 11-time Mexican first-division champs are among three teams south of the border that have made inquiries about the 29-year-old.

Another Mexican source indicated that local rivals Cruz Azul, who chased the US midfielder to no avail after his fine showing at the 2010 World Cup, are again asking about his availability.

While Feilhaber's agent would not discuss specific suitors, he did confirm receiving calls about the Brazilian-born playmaker.

"There have been teams that have spoken with me about him recently," Feilhaber rep Lyle Yorks told "But Benny is really happy in Kansas City and MLS."

The 2013 MLS Cup winner is in his fourth MLS season, following a European journey that included stops with Hamburg, Derby County and AGF Aarhus. Feilhaber has a goal and four assists for the reigning champs this season, bringing his career league totals to nine goals and 17 assists in 94 games.
