DC United acquire midfielder Alex Caskey from Seattle Sounders in exchange for 2016 draft pick

D.C. United on Tuesday announced that the club has traded for former Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Alex Caskey in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.

"Alex has had two solid seasons in Seattle, and he will provide us with great cover across the midfield,” D.C. United general manager Dave Kasper said in a statement. “We look forward to having him on board.”



Caskey, 25, made 30 appearances (17 starts) over the past two seasons for the Sounders, scoring one goal with four assists, and finished third on the team in assists his rookie season. Across all competitions, he started 29 of 42 appearances, registering three goals and seven assists in 2,469 minutes.


He was originally selected by Seattle in the third round (47th overall) of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft.
