Who would you take with the No. 1 pick?

There isn't a draft-style MLS Fantasy game this season, but we still thought it would be fun to see who the consensus No.1 selection might be if you had to choose right now.

For the sake of simplicity, we limited the draft pool to the eight fantasy players who'll cost you a league-high $11.0m. So with several options to pick from and only one player to own for the entire 2014 season, which one would you take No. 1 overall and why?

TIM CAHILL – Went from one goal and two assists in 2013 to 12 goals and five assists in 2013. If he plays up top with Thierry Henry, there's no reason to question his potential. Not many owners are ponying up considering his hefty price tag right now, but expect that to change once the season gets going. (Teams selected by –4.2 percent)

BRAD DAVIS
– He takes set pieces and penalty kicks, but still only managed five goals and nine assists last year. Hopefully the "left-footed David Beckham" will have a bounce back year, but with other playmakers stepping up around him, Davis looks like a stretch at $11.0m. (

LANDON DONOVAN – LA have just two home games through the first 11 rounds, and he'll miss some time because of the World Cup as well. And if that wasn't enough to convince you to look elsewhere, he's expected to spend more time playing in the midfield this year as opposed to forward. From August to October, Donovan has a favorable schedule, so look for him produce as the calendar turns to fall. (Teams selected by –11.5 percent)

THIERRY HENRY
– He's 36 years old, so expect Henry to miss a few games. Other than that, he's an absolute fantasy beast and looks sharp thus far in preseason. He's a world-class player and a tempting No. 1 selection with New York coming off league-best goalscoring season. (

WILL JOHNSON – Probably the most-underrated player on this list despite the fact that he absolutely crushed it last season. Went from three goals in 2012 to 11 in 2013. Johnson also finished second overall in MLS with 15 clean sheets. And guess what: Portland's defense and attack might be even better this year. (Teams selected by – 3.9 percent)

ROBBIE KEANE
–
Starting Lineup
co-hosts Andrew Wiebe and Jason Saghini and I all agree this guy should be the consensus No. 1 overall pick. Tell us why we're wrong. (

JAVIER MORALES – He turned 34 years old last month, but Morales is still possibly the best No. 10 in all of MLS. He'll be operating under a new coach for the first time since arriving in Salt Lake in 2007, although there shouldn't be much change under Jeff Cassar. Still, it's something to consider. (Teams selected by – 11.1 percent)

GRAHAM ZUSI – "Captain Fantasy" finished among the Top 3 in crosses, key passes, big chances created and total points in 2013. By the looks of it, most fantasy owners expect him to equal those numbers, if not better them, in 2014. (Teams selected by – 22.8 percent)
