American Exports: Brad Guzan, slumping Aston Villa ambushed by first-place Arsenal

Aston Villa's Brad Guzan is frustrated

AMSTERDAM – Brad Guzan and Aston Villa were the victims of lightning twin strikes, falling 2-1 to visiting Premier League leaders Arsenal on Monday.

Guzan, who made two saves, could not be faulted on either of the Gunners' goals, which came less than a minute apart late in the first half. Both Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud were able to fire just inside the post from good positions in front of the Villans goal.

The former Chivas USA man made his best stop on Santi Cazorla after intermission, but the hosts were only able to muster a late Christian Benteke strike for their comeback efforts.

Eleventh-place Villa now have gone five home games across all competition without a victory, their longest such streak since August of 2012.
