New York Red Bulls Designated Player Thierry Henry returns to Arsenal for offseason training stint

Thierry Henry enters the field

It might be offseason time for the New York Red Bulls, but that doesn't mean star forward and captain Thierry Henry is just kicking back and relaxing.

In fact, he is actually kicking around with the club that might as well be his home away from home.

A few weeks removed from the end of the Red Bulls' season, Henry is currently England for an offseason training stint with Arsenal, the Premier League giants announced Friday. There is no indication of how long the stint will last, but it appears Henry will be spending at least a portion of his winter with the Gunners.

The Red Bulls did not immediately respond for comment, though head coach Mike Petke hinted at the training stint earlier in the week when he said on the Seeing Red podcast that Henry was currently in London.

The 36-year-old Henry, who spent many of his best years playing for Arsenal and has returned to the club for several training stints and an offseason loan while a member of the Red Bulls, is coming off a 2013 campaign with New York in which he scored 10 goals and had nine assists. He also played in a career-high 30 regular season MLS matches this season, starting 27 for the 2013 Supporters' Shield winners.
