AT&T Goal of the Week: DC United's Jared Jeffrey nabs honors with splendid long-range curler

Jared Jeffrey and Hassoun Camara

Jared Jeffrey's long-ranger curler vs. Toronto FC may have ultimately been just a consolation goal in a lopsided defeat, but what a consolation goal it was.

Jeffrey's beautiful opener in D.C. United's 4-1 loss at BMO Field this past weekend collected the AT&T Goal of the Week award on Friday ahead of Maximiliano Urruti of the Portland Timbers, claiming approximately 47 percent of Week 31's total votes. Jeffrey scored in the 15th minute for United before the 2013 US Open Cup winners conceded four straight to lose yet again in league play.

The 23-year-old is the first United player to take home the honors this season and first Eastern Conference player to do so since Kelyn Rowe in Week 26.

Final Votes - Week 31 (online poll and text vote):

1. Jared Jeffrey (DC): 47.21%
2. Maximiliano Urruti (POR): 37.39%
3. Darel Russel (TOR): 8.52%
4. Saer Sene (NE): 3.67%
5. Mauro Diaz (DAL): 3.21%
