If MLS Cup Playoffs started today ... LA Galaxy would need to go through Seattle to three-peat

MLS Cup, David Beckham holds

The LA Galaxy were in the exact same position last year and they were holding up the MLS Cup trophy in the end.

The two-time defending champions began as the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference during last year's postseason and they find themselves in a familiar spot with just five games to go in their 2013 season.

Last year, they swept past the Vancouver Whitecaps (Knockout Round), San Jose Earthquakes (West Semifinals) and Seattle Sounders (Western Conference Championship) on their way to securing their second straight MLS title vs. the Houston Dynamo.

The way things stand as of Week 31, it would be Colorado (Knockout Round), Seattle (West Semis) and Real Salt Lake or Portland (West Championship) that would come between them and a three-peat.

Seattle would surely look forward to a playoff meeting to exorcise their demons once and for all since the Galaxy have ousted them from the postseason in two of the last three seasons.

In the East, the fireworks would be guaranteed should Sporting Kansas City and Montreal meet in the East semis. Those are two clubs that don't like each other and it showed during the regular season, where Montreal hold the 2-1-0 edge in the three matches played.

Do you want to see LA and Seattle meet in the West semis or West finals? Would SKC-MTL be the most heated match-up in the Eastern Conference postseason? Comment below.
