The Columbus Crew celebrate a goal vs. Montreal

The Columbus Crew might not make the 2013 MLS Cup playoffs — in fact, there's quite a good chance they won't — but that's not stopping them from banding together for one last push at the postseason and doing so under a slightly unorthodox mantra, led by their brand new owner, Anthony Precourt.


"Eat your vegetables so you'll grow up to be big and strong." Remember when your parents used to tell you that when you were a little kid? Yeah, I hated it, too.


Well, Precourt has instituted a new pseudo-policy for his Crew players: Eat your spinach at halftime.

The did so on Saturday night, besting Saputo's Montreal Impact, 2-1, thanks to a Dominic Oduro goal in the 78th minute. As this is the golden age of the Internet and everybody is a creative genius, that led to the following meme photo making the rounds on Tuesday morning (click photo to enlarge):
