FC Dallas announce new naming-rights partner as their home becomes Toyota Stadium

The eponymous days are done in Frisco. FC Dallas on Tuesday announced that their home stadium will be known as Toyota Stadium.

The club has reached a long-term agreement with Toyota for the naming rights of FCD's stadium and surrounding facility, ending almost two years without a naming-rights partner.

Originally known as Pizza Hut Park when it opened in 2005, the facility reverted back to FC Dallas Stadium in December of 2011. The 145-acre facility, which includes the stadium as well as 17 practice fields, was the third soccer-specific stadium built in the United States and was a legacy project of former FC Dallas owner Lamar Hunt.

“This is a monumental day for our organization,” Dan Hunt, vice president of Hunt Sports Group, said in a statement. “My entire family and I are so excited to be partnered with Toyota. I wish my father was alive today to see Toyota join FC Dallas in helping soccer grow across the Metroplex and Texas.

"This stadium complex was one of his favorite projects and will always be extra special to me as the last project I got to do with him before he passed. I know having such a wonderful partner as Toyota step up and put their name on it would make him proud.”

In addition to the stadium name, FC Dallas said the 17 practice fields around the stadium would be known as Toyota Soccer Center.

Toyota Stadium is, of course, not to be confused with Toyota Park — the home stadium of the Chicago Fire which also shares its naming rights with the automobile manufacturer.

The North Texas facility, besides being home to FC Dallas, also hosts international soccer matches, the NCAA FCS Championship, AAC Men’s Soccer Championship and concerts.

The next FC Dallas home game at Toyota Stadium comes Sept. 29 against the Columbus Crew (8:30 pm ET, MLS LIVE).
