Let the speculation begin. There's another Designated Player slot open in Seattle.

On Thursday afternoon, the Sounders announced they have agreed to a new contract with Shalrie Joseph, and that the veteran midfielder would no longer occupy a DP slot. Seattle now have two Designated Players on the books in Mauro Rosales and Obafemi Martins.

After joining Seattle via trade from Chivas USA in February, Joseph has made seven MLS appearances for the Sounders, including four starts. The Grenadan midfielder, 35, is a four-time MLS Best XI honoree and has 39 goals and 35 assists during his 11 years in MLS.
